The University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Dean of the School of Law. It is dedicated to educating students to become outstanding lawyers who will serve their communities and the nation in the highest traditions of the legal profession. UMKC’s juris doctor degree program is designed to prepare students for the challenges faced by 21st century lawyers, public officials, and executives. The law school offers emphases in Business and Entrepreneurship; Advocacy; Child and Family Law; Intellectual Property Law; Urban, Land Use, and Environmental Law; and International, Comparative, and Foreign Law; as well as LL.M. degrees in Taxation and Lawyering. The Dean serves as a senior academic leader of the University, reports to the Provost, and will work collaboratively with fellow Deans.

The Dean is expected to have: (1) a thorough understanding of both the challenges and the opportunities facing legal education today, along with creative/innovative ideas for tackling those issues; (2) the ability to recruit and support excellent and diverse faculty, students and staff; (3) strong operational and financial skills; (4) outstanding administrative and management skills, including team building; (5) the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of stakeholders; and (6) the ability to achieve success in both external outreach and fundraising. The successful candidate will have leadership experience that provides a foundation for success in an academic setting.

The Dean will ideally possess a commitment to innovation in legal education and a broad knowledge of the legal profession. A juris doctorate is required. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of successful executive leadership and comparable credentials and/or experience sufficient to warrant the respect and confidence of the academic community. The ideal candidate will be experienced in partnering with the legal community as well as the business and civic communities at large. We expect strong experience in the critical areas of administration, fundraising, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The Missouri Public Service Commission is seeking a responsible professional to coordinate and direct legislative affairs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: representing the Commission before the legislature, industry-related organizations and other government agencies; developing and implementing strategies to accomplish the Commission’s legislative and budgetary goals; establishing and maintaining strong relationships with legislators, stakeholders, other policymakers and their staff; monitoring, analyzing and reporting on state and federal legislation affecting the Commission, Commission–regulated utilities and legislation on topics that may become issues before the Commission; coordinating and participating in testimony before legislative committees; coordinating the Commission’s response to legislative requests; and corresponding with individual legislators.

Other duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining a working knowledge of utility regulation; participating in policy development and research; attending local public hearings; establishing and maintaining relationships with rural electric cooperatives, city governments and county commissions; and representing the Commission at special events. Some statewide travel is required, including overnight.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree and experience in one or more of the following fields - accounting, economics, finance, engineering/utility operations, law or public policy; and two years of experience as a lobbyist, legislative liaison, or in a position involving Missouri legislative affairs is required. A Master’s degree and experience in utility regulation is preferred. Graduate work in the specified educational areas or in the study of law may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Starting annual salary range is $50,000 – $70,000 with a potential increase at the end of a successful probationary period. The Missouri Public Service Commission is seeking a Legal Counsel for its Staff Counsel Department in Jefferson City. This is an entry-level position.

Duties include: litigation of public utility cases (telecommunications, electric, natural gas, water and sewer) before the PSC on behalf of Commission Staff. Cases involve matters such as utility rates, utility operation financing, mergers and regulatory law enforcement of Commission rules and laws.

QUALIFICATIONS: A juris doctorate degree and admission to practice law in Missouri or admission elsewhere and eligibility for admission to practice law in Missouri is required. Experience in general litigation, administrative law, and/or government regulation of private enterprise is desirable but not required. Personal computer experience required, with knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.

The City of Kansas City, Missouri City Attorney’s office is seeking applicants for an assistant city attorney position.    Please apply at


The available position will be assigned primarily to litigation. The City Attorney’s Office handles cases involving torts, contracts, constitutional claims, and employment discrimination and other civil rights claims. The attorney will frequently appear in court, including serving as first chair in jury and bench trials before state and federal courts. The attorney will be responsible for his or her own cases from the initial filing of the petition or complaint, through the appellate process.


The attorney hired will have the opportunity for career advancement and to handle more complex litigation as more experience is gained.   The attorney will also provide advice to the Mayor and City Council, City boards and commissions, and the professional staff.  The office comprises fifty-two attorneys and twenty-five support staff.  The starting salary is $59,340 per year, plus excellent benefits.
