AWL Hosted a Great Annual Conference - "CLE In The City"

Thanks to all of our attendees and speakers who made our first Conference such a great success!  For those of you who were unable to attend, here is what you missed:  The day started with a breakfast bar and chance to mingle with our Exhibitors.  Attendees won some great prizes!  We hope you will continue to support and patronize these businesses.  After the morning sessions, we had a very interesting speaker at lunch - Chef Celina Tio.  She spoke about her decision to become a chef and to open her own restaurant, "Julian" in Brookside, as well as her experiences on The Next Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters.  Next came some more great afternoon CLE sessions, including a panel with our esteemed Supreme Court Judges.  The day ended with a Reception honoring AWL's Past Presidents.  Everyone had a great day and we hope you will join us again next year when we do it all again.  Please click HERE for the brochure of our 2011 Conference.

Govenor Nixon appoints AWL endorsed candidate

Karen Krauser was appointed as Associate Circuit Judge for the Clay County Circuit Court.
Krauser, 35, has been an assistant Clay County prosecutor since 2002 and also is a municipal judge for Excelsior Springs and Platte Woods. She succeeds Donald Norris, who retired in October. A graduate of Park University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, Krauser tried 25 cases as a prosecutor and supervised an additional 28, including three death penalty cases. She has been the
county's chief deputy prosecutor since 2008. Congratulations to AWL member Karen Krauser!

Message about the new President

A New Leader Takes the Helm at AWL

Thank you so much for your interest and patronage of AWL.  It is much appreciated. We have a very solid membership base, which relects our leadership's commitment to excellence.  And we are very pleased and proud to introduce Phyllis Norman as this years AWL President.  Phyllis is an attorney with Langdon & Emison, a firm that has been extrememly supportive of all things AWL throughout the years.  And this year,  they are kind enough to lend us Phyllis.  For that we thank you!  Phyllis has been a member of AWL for nine years and while she has been involved in all phacets of the organization, she was integral in her work with the "I'm Not Serious About Golf" tournament.  Her hard work and dedication put this event on the map.  Because of her, we have to turn people away who register too late because this event sells out each year.  As President Elect last year, Phyllis spearheaded AWL's Annual Conference.  This conference had not been held for many years, so Phyllis and her committee resurected it and it was a great success.  We had  many wonderful presenters and sponsors.  And it is now an AWL staple and an event that we look forward to each year. Because of her hard work on the conference, she was awarded the esteemed AWL President's Award in 2011.  If you ask Phyllis about her success with AWL, she will attribute it to her talented Board of Directors.  While we gladly take the compliment, we know that it is our strong and supportive membership that truly drives this great organization.  Thank you to everyone for all they have done and will do for AWL.  Cheers to a great 2012!

Congratulations to Phyllis Norman
2012 AWL President!
