This scholarship is sponsored by AWL members who generously add a donation to their annual dues playment in order to fund this award. This scholarship is intended as an education supplement for a female law student who has distinguished herself through academics, community service and/or involvement in activities promoting women. The scholarship committee will select the recipient based on a number of factors including financial need, academics, community service, and the applicant’s personal statement. The Award will be made to one female student (part-time or full-time) who has completed at least one full year of law school and will be classified as a second or third year law student (2L or 3L) in the spring of 2024.
This scholarship is offered and awarded once annually to a female law student from one of the Kansas City area law schools (within a 150 mile radius). The award includes a $2,000 cash scholarship; AWL membership fee waiver as a student, and for the first year of practice; and recognition in AWL's monthly e-newsletter, The Spotlight. Deadline to apply is on or before Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at midnight (CST). The cash award will be given in January of 2024, and the individual will be recognized during AWL's Spring Judicial Reception (date to be determined).
