Position Title: Trial Attorney/Assistant Public Defender - Posted 7/9/2020

 

Basic Function: Provide legal representation to indigent clients charged with criminal offenses facing the possibility of incarceration

Job Duties: Duties to include pre-trial and trial preparation; litigating all aspects of the case through disposition at the trial court level; promoting and protecting the best interest of the client at all times; maintaining client contact by telephone, appointments, or institutional visits; keeping client apprised of investigations, negotiations, and court rulings; appearing at regularly scheduled court dockets and all appearances concerning assigned caseload; drafting motions and pleadings.

Qualifications:  Must be a current member of the Missouri Bar or eligible for bar licensure in Missouri.

Salary/Benefits:  Starting salary is $48,408. After one year, an APD is eligible for salary increase to $53,688. Eligible for full state benefits including health, life, and long-term disability insurance, retirement plan, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, CLE training, and payment of bar dues.

Position Title: Director of Court En Banc - Posted 6/22/20

Section Definition of Work: This position consists of highly responsible, managerial and supervisory position involving the administration of the judicial process for appeals, disciplinary actions, transfer applications, jurisdictional transfers, petition for writs, motions for bond, petitions for reinstatement, appeals form the decisions of the Board of Law Examiners and petitions for review.

 

Salary/Benefits: Starting salary range $71,423 to $85,407 annually depending on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for full benefits and leave accruals provided through the State of Missouri.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: A bachelor’s degree is required with a valid law degree from an accredited law school preferred but not required.
