PUBLIC NOTICE: APPOINTMENT OF US MAGISTRATE JUDGE (Posted 1/28/2020)

 

The Judicial Conference of the United States has authorized a full-time eight-year appointment as United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Missouri. The position will be in Kansas City to fill the vacancy created by the planned retirement of Judge John T. Maughmer on August 31, 2020.

CHIEF DEPUTY COUNSEL (Posted 1/27/2020)

The Missouri Public Service Commission is seeking a chief deputy staff counsel for its Staff Counsel Division located in Jefferson City.
Duties include: Ability to manage a docket of in-depth cases involving utility-related state regulatory matters; ability to draft, present and defend complex motions and manage the work product of attorneys engaged in such activity. Ability to develop and present trainings on practical skills, litigation, and other relevant topics to attorneys and others; ability to manage special projects as assigned; ability to serve as chief attorney in settlement negotiations. The position serves as Chief Deputy Counsel for regulatory issues at the Public Service Commission. Moderate amount of travel in-state is required. Qualifications: Five (5) years of progressively responsible legal experience in one or more fields of law directly related to utility regulation or governmental or administrative law or; ten (10) years of progressively responsible general litigation experience required. Demonstrated experience drafting complex motions and trial and appellate practice required. Must be a member of the Missouri Bar or eligible through reciprocity. The successful candidate will have experience managing a book of cases in active administrative litigation and demonstrate willingness to develop and maintain a thorough grasp of issues relating to the regulation of public utilities. Ability to use computer word processing and other job-specific software required.

Annual salary range: $78,500-$83,200; salary commensurate with education and applicable experience.
