Senior Litigation Attorney (Posted 3/7/24).  The Kansas City Office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP is seeking a senior litigation attorney with at least seven years of experience to join the General Liability Litigation practice group. Candidates must be licensed to practice in Missouri. A license to practice in Kansas is helpful, but not required. Experience defending all aspects of personal injury and property damage cases is required. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fast-paced litigation and has experience with all aspects of defending a case, including taking and defending depositions, attending court hearings, drafting and arguing motions, and assisting significantly at trial. This non-partnership track position will include helping to manage and play a lead role in handling a case load of 30-40 cases and also requires ability to effectively communicate with clients, and supervision of other case team members. Independent Attorney (Posted 3/7/24).  The City of Prairie Village, Kansas is seeking an independent attorney or law firm to provide public defender services to indigent defendants charged with certain offenses in Prairie Village Municipal Court.  The scope of work includes criminal defense services and all related legal and administrative tasks pursuant to those defense services. The Public Defender will provide effective legal representation for indigent defendants facing jail time. There is no predetermined number of hours per week and cases will be assigned by the Municipal Judge at their discretion. The past few years have averaged 100 appointments per year. Staff Attorney, Legal Aid of Western Missouri (Posted 2/19/24).  Legal Aid of Western Missouri seeks a full-time general practice attorney to be housed in our new Independence, Missouri location. The attorney will be part of our Warrensburg team, which serves 13 counties in west-central Missouri. The position is litigation-centered with a case load consisting of family law, guardianships, and other substantive areas of law in which Legal Aid provides service. Debt Defense Staff Attorney, Legal Aid of Western Missouri (Posted 2/19/2024).  Legal Aid seeks a full-time staff attorney to represent defendants in debt collection cases through our Debt Relief Project. The attorney will be housed in our Central Office in Kansas City and will primarily represent clients in Associate Circuit Court in Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties. The attorney will develop and administer an in-person courthouse clinic to meet with potential clients and provide advice and representation as appropriate. Staff Attorney - Family Law, Legal Aid of Western Missouri (Posted 2/9/2024).  Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time staff attorney in its Joplin office to provide legal counsel and court-room advocacy on behalf of survivors of domestic violence in a six (6) county service area including McDonald, Newton Jasper, Barton, Vernon and Bates County Missouri. The Joplin office is staffed by four experienced attorneys and three paralegals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, representing survivors of domestic violence in obtaining orders of protection and related domestic issues, including dissolution of marriages and custody matters. Responsibilities also include providing education in self-advocacy; and working with advocacy organizations.
